Five step to Clean Canada Goose Jackets on canada goose outlet store

The secret on how to clean Canada Goose jackets isn’t one that will be surprising to anyone who owns one of these expensive and oh-so-comfortable coats. Yep, if you want your Canada Goose cleaned, you’re going to want to bring it to the professionals. And there’s good reason for that.

Why Do Canada Goose Coats Need To Be Dry Cleaned?

A Canada Goose coat is designed to maintain its high quality for many years. To make sure that happens, Canada Goose provides a warranty with each of their coats that protects against any defects in materials or workmanship for the lifetime of the garment. If you clean your Canada Goose coat at home, however, the warranty is voided and you’ll have no recourse if a defect later appears.

On their website, Canada Goose says that “it is important that you take it to a reputable dry cleaner and that you do not machine wash it.” Not only will washing your Canada Goose coat void the warranty, it will also put your coat at risk of damage—neither of which are things that you want to risk with such a large investment. Canada Goose also recommends that you remove the fur ruff prior to dropping off the garment with a dry cleaner. (If you’d like, we’ll clean the fur separately.)

Note that this only applies to Canada Goose’s down-filled parkas. Lightweights and shells can be machine washed in cold water using a bleach-free detergent and then hung to dry. And if you need to spot clean your parka, you can do so with a mild bleach-free detergent, a clean cloth, and water.

How to Store Canada Goose Jacket

As for how to store your jacket, you have a couple of options. As with all luxury items, your best option is almost always going to be leaving the item with a luxury storage provider during the off-season months. This ensures that your Canada Goose coat is well protected from the elements, including any moisture build up that could harm the jacket or its fur.

If you decide to store your Canada Goose coat at your home, you’ll want to take care to provide it with the best environment possible. This includes sealing it in a breathable garment bag and then hanging it in a dark and moisture-free room. Do not fold or otherwise compress your Canada Goose jacket for storage, since these actions can result in damage.

Canada Goose products are made with the highest quality materials and craftsmanship, to protect you in some of the most extreme weather conditions, and we stand behind each one. Canada Goose products purchased from an Authorized Retailer are fully warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the product – which means the usual and customary wearable life of the product, by the original owner. If a product fails due to a manufacturing defect, we will repair the product free of charge, or replace it at our discretion. If the exact style is not available for replacement, a product of equal value and similar style will be provided. Please note, knitwear, accessories and collaborations are excluded from the Canada Goose warranty program, unless otherwise stated.

This warranty does not cover any repairs needed due to accidents, improper care, negligence, or normal wear and tear. This warranty is void if the inside garment tags are removed. For any damage not covered under the warranty, Canada Goose may offer to repair the damage for a reasonable charge. If such an offer is made, we will discuss this with the consumer, prior to any repairs being made.

We aim to have your product back to you as quickly as possible so you can get back to exploring the great outdoors. Our typical turn-around time is four weeks from the time we receive your product to when it gets back to you.

Note: In accordance with our Health & Safety Practices, in order for us to service your claim your item must be freshly cleaned. If your item has not been cleaned before it arrives we will be happy to clean it for you for a nominal charge, which we’ll confirm with you first.

When your garment requires cleaning, be sure to closely follow the directions on the contents label on the inside of the garment. A well looked-after Canada Goose garment will be sure to stand the test of time.

Parkas: When your down-filled parka requires cleaning, it is important that you take it to a reputable dry cleaner and that you do not machine wash it. Machine-washing your parka will void the warranty. If your parka has a removable fur option, remove the fur ruff before dry cleaning. If you have a small stain on your parka, you can spot-wash with a mild bleach-free detergent and water.

Lightweights & Shells: Your lightweight down jacket or shell should be machine-washed in cold water using a bleach-free detergent. Do not dry clean and do not tumble dry. Simply hang your jacket to dry and iron on a cool setting if necessary.
